1st Annual Cocoa Beach Scavenger Hunt

Welcome everyone to another “What Would Jonesy Do?” event! If you have been to any of our previous parties or proceedings you already know what you’re in for. If this is your first time, you better start training.

With winter right around the corner this is our last chance to run a muck in Cocoa before the weather gets too cold. Which lead us to our third “major” of the year, the Cocoa Beach Scavenger Hunt. Groups of four, minimum one lady per team, will attempt to accomplish the designated tasks as quickly as possible. The first team to do so will be crowned champions and will retain the trophy until next year’s hunt. In order to successfully complete each task, photo documentation must be provided to the judges. Each member of the team is required to have a bicycle, or be willing to ride on the handlebars, pegs, or have some form of transportation. No team members will be permitted to get into any motorized vehicle of any sort during the competition. The list of tasks, included below, can be completed in any order. Some of the tasks require all members of the team and some only a portion, so read each task carefully. All members must be present during each task whether or not they are required to participate.

When: Saturday the 22nd of November @ 1PM

List of Tasks

1. Shots of Tequila as a team at “La Cantina” (4)

2. Shots of Jägermeister as a team at “Tip a Few” (4)

3. Shots of Irish Car Bombs as a team at “Graham’s Beach Grille” (4)

4. Shots of Rum as a team at “The Pier” (4)

5. Shots of SoCo & Lime as a team at a bar or restaurant of your choice (4)

6. One team member must kiss a random girl (1-Male)

7. Find a tourist from out of state and get a photo with them (3)

8. Try on a banana hammock at a tourist shop of your choice (2-Male)

9. One team member must try on a full wetsuit at a surf shop (1)

10. A lady from your team must get a lap-dance at a gentleman’s club (1)

11. One team member must jump into a pool of their choice (1)

12. Everyone must finish one (16oz) beer each as a team (4)

13. One team member must ride their bicycle off a dock into the intercostal (1)

14. Have a coconut in your possession at the finish line (1)

15. Find an item (surf boards excluded) in “Beach Wave 3” that is over $50 and photograph the price tag (the most expensive will be used as a tiebreaker if necessary)

Halloween Party

Halloween Party

When: Saturday November 1^st @ Dusk

Where: 430 Hampton Ave (At the intersection of Hampton Ave & Anderson St, just south of 408)

Come celebrate Halloween at Travis and Kelly’s haunted house. Everyone is welcome and costumes are required! Feel free to bring your pumpkins over as there will be an unofficial pumpkin carving contest. There will be kegs and drinking games all night, as we party along side the souls of those who passed in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Please DON’T park in anyone’s yard!

Details: I know that Sanford is a little bit of a hike for some of us. So I am purposing we all take a taxi van up to the show like last time. We can all meet at my house and ride out to the show, via taxi, together.

2nd S.Orange Ave Pub Crawl

Dear friends,

We are about to embark on a journey into the unknown. Those who are faint of heart need not read on, for this pub crawl will test not only your stamina and wits, but your bravery as well. As many of you have often driven on Orange Ave, taking in the sights and the sounds, you may have noticed a plethora of watering holes dotting the main artery of Orlando. Many of these fine establishments are dilapidated with crumbling façades, but what these pubs lack in appearance, they more than make up for on the inside. With that being said, I would like to invite you to the 2^nd Biannual Orange Avenue Pub Crawl. Below you will find details illustrating when and where and the ultimate goal of this endeavor.

This Pub Crawl will be held on Friday October 24^th @ 5:15 PM

So the whole idea is to start this pub crawl on the southern portion of Orange Ave, and make our way north to my house where we will have a keg and party the rest of the night. Feel free to invite anyone; and everyone is welcome to party back at my house afterwards. As far as transportation is concerned I am driving my van with room for 7, so I am willing to taxi whoever can fit from the 1^st bar to my house. I have plenty of room to crash and air mattresses at my house or if you would rather make arrangements to get back to your cars if you leave them at one of the stops. Hope to see everyone on October 24^th.

To everyone interested in going downtown for a Euro-style dance party, this is the night to do it. Lets all meet at my house before hand and ride out to Tabu around 9PM so we can get there early enough and not miss Benny Benassi. I am going to call up and try to find out when he goes on.

Matt Kelly’s Going Away Party

Matt Kelly is moving to Raleigh, NC after taking a job a few weeks ago. His final blow-out party is going to be Saturday the 20^th at 1PM at our house. Please join us in bidding Matt farewell in North Carolina and help us send him off Orlando style, and yes that means Beer Olympics! We will be BBQ’ing all day and the Beer Olympics will be starting promptly at 3PM. We are hoping to have some live music for the evening time, courtesies of Billy Byers and Co. (He doesn’t know that yet but I will convince him). There will be kegs!

Bring a bathing suit as we can always use the apartment’s pool.

Form your teams now!

Bring your own food for the grill, we will only have appetizers.

There may also be an obstacle course set up in the backyard

There will be a variety of other games to play outside of the Olympics (Croquet, Bocce, Beer Mines, Jenga, Cornhole, Frisbeer, etc.)

Beer Olympics Format:

Teams of two will compete in a variety of games to determine who the champions are!

There will be no round robin or pool play, we will start with a single elimination tournament. The preliminary rounds (everything except championship round) will consist of a best of three format. The three games used to decide the winner will be Beer Pong, Flip Cup, and Quarters. Teams will draw to determine the order the games are played. For the Championship round a best of five format will be used.

Beer Pong: 6 Cup; House Rules

Flip Cup: Best of 5 (each member of the team must fill two cups and as a team successfully flip all four cups to win that game)

Quarters: Best of 5 (Same format at Orlando Beer Olympics, details will be available on Saturday)

Ginnie Springs Clean-Up 2008

This is the final reminder about the clean up at Ginnie Springs on the 12, 13, and 14^th of September. I recommend everyone trying to figure out the driving and carpool situations. I am leaving at 1PM from Orlando and I can only accommodate one more person in my van. Also on the bulletin board, behind the (main building/welcome center), is where a map of our camping location will be posted and it will be under the name “Surf for Earth”. Please look at the map to find out our location as cell phones don’t work were we are camping. I included a map below of the anticipated camp location, however I recommend still looking at the bulletin board (location is shown on map below) to double check the camp location hasn’t changed.

This is the first official event for SurfForEarth.org! The website is still under construction, so right now word of mouth and emails are the main way to spread the information about this event.

We will have shirts for sale (design shown below) for $15 dollars; the proceeds will go towards clean up equipment and the next “Surf for Earth” event. Which more than likely will be a party to look at photos and to recruit more members to help out with future clean-ups.

Things to Bring:

Tubes (can be rented for $6/day) *also if you bring a tube there is a free air station at the springs.
Mask, Snorkel, Mesh Bag (mask and snorkel can also be rented there)
Tent, camping equipment, etc.
Food & Charcoal (there is a small café at the welcome center which is open during normal hours if you don’t want to bring/cook a bunch of food)
Drinks (this is private land, so alcoholic beverages ARE PERMITTED!)

*There are porto-lavs available for use and a real bathroom in the welcome center

*There are picnic tables and firepits at the campsite we are going to so we will have charcoal

* Also on a side note: I recommend bringing a tube, the bigger and more absurd the better. I also think we should bring a few extra air mattresses and float them down the river too, let’s create a floating island!

Anyone who is interested in cleaning up the Santa Fe River please join us in our efforts on the weekend of September 12-14^th. We are going to leave mid day on Friday and set up camp, wake up on Saturday and make two runs down the river and collect as many cans as we can, using a mask, snorkel, and mesh bag. We are going to keep all the cans we collect and turn them in to help pay for a follow up party/event. It will only take 3 hours of one day to clean up the river with the amount of people who have already agreed to participate. The rest of the time we can enjoy camping, floating, and partying with friends. I am also currently talking with the people who run Ginnie Springs; to see if they would be willing to let everyone who participates, in for free since we are providing a service to them and to our environment. This is a great chance to spread the word about SurfForEarth.org. We are going to have shirts made and have them available before the clean-up to help get our name out there. If you don’t have the equipment necessary (mask & snorkel) to help we can ask some friends and try to get everything we all need to help and there is also equipment available to rent at Ginnie Springs. Tell all of your friends and come out and support SurfForEarth.org and help protect our environment!
